Key Vocabulary- English Lesson 1

이번주는 교실을 벗어나서 실재 상황에서의 대화를 들어 보겠습니다.  교실에서 혹은 정해진 장소에서 일방적으로 전해지는 수업보다는 실재 사람들의 대화에서는 어떤 식으로 발음과 표현들이 달라지는지를 알아 보겠습니다.

그렇다고 당장 일반 미국인들의 대화에 뛰어 들기는 좀 무리가 있을수 있으므로 Andre Moreno라는 젊은 친구가 진행하는 길거리 영어수업을 들어 봅니다.  이 친구는 아직 정식 ESL 선생님은 아닌것 같고 친구들과 함께 시장이나 길에서 이루어질수 있는 현장 영어를 중점적으로 다루는 약간 다른 접근법을 채택하고 있어서 신선함이 느껴집니다.

첫편에서는 약간 산만하게 느껴지지만 다음편들에서는 그나마 좀 체계가 있어 보입니다... Andre의 발음은 께끗하지만 참여하는 사람들의 발음이 약간 거시기한데 그런 경우는 스크린에 따로 스크립트가 올라오니 큰 불편은 없으리라 믿습니다.



Hi I’m head coachAndre Moreno, and today’s broadcast is gonna be on my bed.  Although we’re gonna to talk about things youcan find in your closet, so in closet you can find like a sweater like this onewith zipper.  You can find dress shirt,you can find some jeans.  Umm, I can onlyfind some more stuffs from the closet.  Ohhere some more stuffs, uh, we’re gonna have a red shirt, right? Or a T-shirtactually with no sleeves.  Here some morestuff, so we have a blue dress shirt right? with some buttons, it’s button downshirt, alright?  long sleeves.   What else do we have?  Ok, you can definitely find a sneaker, goodfor running, walking or sorts of stuffs. You also have a cell phone.. You can definitely find a cell phone.  Ok, this is .. what is this? OK, this is a ..guys, this is a pillow case.  So pillowcases are for pillows, that’s what you cover with them, its pillow case. 


All right, here wehave some dress pants.  You can use themfor meetings, other stuffs.  This is amagazine, Fortune Magazine, definitely you can find in closet so .. a beanie,guys a beanie, you know beanie, wearing like this… Ok, definitely you alwayshave a good towel in your closet, also Ok, tennis balls, I like to play tennis. No comments!  All right, next Another..what is this, uh.. I forget, do you know it? Come on guess it!  You can doit.  Tennis shoe.  What else? So we have some sweat pants.  Ifeel like running when it’s cold.  Thenwe have some.. we have a big wood hanger here for hanging your cloths when you’renot using them.  I should learn how to dothat.  Ok, now we have a sandal for thebeach…  Tennis racket, a book… ok this isaccounting for dummies… who has that in the closet?  What else do we have here? 

 

Ok, for some glovesfor winter time throwing tennis balls,  agood wallet, credit card, whatever.. and then we have a..  guys, a .. who can guess what this is…?  This is a Origami Yoda, weird.  Ok.. so we have a white T-shirt with a shortsleeves?  We have an orange T-shirt withshort sleeves?  Guess what this is…  black T-shirt with no sleeves..  ok, we have a red T-shorts with no sleeves…OKthis one didn’t make it..  We have ashort for running… OK this goes in the kitchen. These guys are dress shoes with wooden sloes.  You use them for meetings with your dresspants.. where are they?  What else do wehave?  Oh look at this, my jacket!  See how this works?  Now I all dressed up, you know for a tennisgame?  Socks…  here they are, socks… you have some of thosein your closet, right?  OK, Guys, slippers…  don’t use them ever.  All right, nice throw. This is a discman, putCDs in there.  Guess what this is.. agray T-shirt.

 

I should be running outof stuffs.  This is a CD, red hot chillipeppers’.  Good CD you should buyit.  Let me look at this for a littlewhile… look at this a Bluetooth earpiece. So guys.. that’s my closet.  I don’tthink anything else left in there.  Sometennis balls, you know what?  Before Iget some more tennis balls or hit by this tennis ball,  I’m gonna say good bye to this broadcast.  Thank you for watching and I’llsee you next week, bye-bye..!
