Welcome to startcooking.com. I'm Kathy Maister.
These bite size of sweet and sour meatballs are just too good to be true. You are gonna love this recipe. And ingredient and equipment list is in the end of this video.
Let’s start cooking. Two eggs into a large mixing bowl. Beat them gently with the fork. Set the bowl aside while we cutting onion. We need one half cup of minced onions. That means to cut them into really tiny bits. Take one small onion and cut off the top part. Leave the root end intact. Now, cut it into half and peel off the outer skin. Make one eight inch cuts, perpendicular to the root. Then make // one eight inch cuts, parallel to the root. Perfect, minced onions! Add onions into the eggs in a mixing bowl along with // one pound ground veal, one pound ground port, two tea spoons of salt, and one cup of dried // seasoned bread crumbs.
With clean
hands, gently mix everything
together. Shape the meatballs by scooping out about // one round table spoon
of meat // into the palm of your hands.
Gently roll the meat until
you got a nice round ball
shape. And a large frying pan, set on medium
heat, melt one table spoon of butter
with one table spoon of olive
oil. Add meatballs // and let
them gently brown meatballs about for two to three minutes // on one side before you start turning up.
If your frying pan is not big
enough for all of them once, which mine isn’t,
you’ll have to do in two stages. It will
take about six or seven minutes for the meatballs to brown all sides. With a large
spoon, transfer the meatballs to a large flat baking dish. Before starting the second batch, wipe out the pan with paper towel.
And then add // one
more table spoon of (olive) oil, and butter to the pan.
Now for the sauce, in a medium size bowl, melt two table spoons of butter in the microwave. That will probably take about twenty seconds. Add one twelve ounce jar of Apricot jam // and one half cup of your favorite barbecue sauce, whisk the sauce together and then pour over the meatballs. Make sure all the meatballs are coated with sauce.
Bake the meatballs in a preheated 350 degree oven // for about 30 minutes. By then they should be cooked thorough // all bubbly and just perfect for a party. Enjoy!
