Job Interview Bootcamp - 4. Answering Interview Questions




During the interview, you could be asked many different questions.  In our download library of this website (SellYourSmarts.com), you will find our check list of 50 most commonly asked interview questions. However, most questions asked to (1. ____) additional facts about you to determine your ambition and accomplishments, as well as to determine your problem solving and your leadership skills. No matter what question you are asked though, you need to remember five things.

 

  1. Listen to the question: make sure you understand it before you answer. 
  2. Be honest:  Always be truthful give the answer to the best of your ability. You maybe asked a follow-up question later, and you don’t want to get caught  stretch in the truth. 
  3. Be positive: be positive about any question asked.  Especially the ones about difficult situations and conflict.  The opportunity here is tell you've learned that will help you in the future jobs. 
  4. Answer only the question asked: don’t get caught in (2. _____), answer only the question asked. If you’re not sure, it’s fine to ask the interviewer if what you said answers their questions.  (2. _____) will kill the interview.  You always want a two-way conversation. 
  5. Give a structured answer:  you can always give a good answer if you do three things in each answer.  One, stay what you did, two, why you did it, and three, what you learned from the experience.  Since all questions and answer sessions are dynamic (3. _______), practice is your best bet.
