Hello, I’m a very
interesting and intelligent man. Today
these legs and I will come together to teach you some English idioms. I bet you’ve never been taught by some legs
before.
Do you like my
legs? You know, I’m the current lovely
legs British champion. Not really.. I’m only pulling your leg. In English, if you try to make someone
believe something that isn’t true as a joke, we say “I’m pulling your leg.” What’s that you say? You’re going to give up learning English
because this class is too silly. Aha,
you’re only pulling my leg!
Ah.. my car! I had to take it to the garage yesterday and
it was so expensive. In fact, it cost an
arm and a leg. In English, if something is extremely
expensive, we can say, “It cost an arm and a leg.”
l
and a leg 이 부분을 언듯 들으면 and the leg으로 들리기 쉽습니다. 정관사와 부정관사의 용법차이가 그렇듯, 정확한 관사의 용법이 큰 뜻의 차이를 가질수 있으므로 주의깊게 듣고 정확히 이해할 필요가 있습니다. 여기선 and의
-d가 a와 연음되어 the로 들릴수 있으나
a가 정확합니다.
My boss.. he’s
threatening to fire me / again / because he said I stole one of his ties. But he didn’t see me take it. So he hasn’t got a leg to stand on. In English if you are in a situation where
you can’t prove something, we say, “You haven’t got a leg to stand on.”
It’s my boss!
