Sweet Tooth Health Risks

This morning in Health Hot Issue is heart health.  Two-thirds (2/3) of American adults are over-weight or obsessed, and experts say it’s probably due to all the sugar we eat.  Now the American Heart Association issued a new guide line that helps us to control our sweet-tooth, and Dr. Jennifer Ashton is back with details.  Good to see you.  You too.

Look at the sugar right here. I know every American eats way too much.  What can we do?  Now AHA’s getting very specific.  They’re recommending no more than six tea spoons a day for woman, nine tea spoons a day for man, this huge bowl, 22 tea spoons are what the average American can get per day, and we wanna be clear it’s not only about sugar, they don’t try to vilify sugar. It’ about your overall caloric intake that of course leads to the risk of obesity.

And people think of that they have some big beans granola bar, ketchup on top of toppings that they are doing just is not good enough.  Right, bottom line is there are a lot of hidden sources of sugar in their diets, things like ketchup, salad dressing, even granola bars that you think they are healthy. They really contain a lot of loaded sugar and over the course of your day, it really adds up to your caloric intake and at the end of the day that’s what it’s about inverses out  even something like sugary soft drink can add up to about 12 pounds of weight gain a year. Don’t drink your Coke.  Watch that regular soda docu. Thank you Jennifer, once again…
