Mythbusters: Homemade Hi-Def Speakers

POINTS TO STUDY

Is the tin foil paper plate Hi-Def speaker really true?

재미있는 주제이긴 한데 진행자의 말이 상당히 빠릅니다.

그래도 나레이터의 말은 그런대로 천천히 해주니 알아들을만 합니다

역시 too good to be true.

SCRIPT, LISTENING TIPS, & GRAMMAR

In Mythbuster all viral special, Torys about to get down and dirty. Next myth were going to test comes from YouTube viewer challenge and it’s the number one myth.  People want us to be tested.  Its making a speaker out of nothing, but paper plates, tin foil, and a shiny penny, and a mini-jack. Its the video you most wanted us to test, Household Hackers High Def. speakers.

Go ahead and wrap your aluminum foil over the convex side of your paper plate. The idea is the foil reverberates / creating sound, just like a normal speaker cone. you’re going to place the penny somewhere towards the center of your plate. But will it reverberate enough to say it sound waves rippling through the air!

Now HousholdHacker says take a regular paper plate. You cover it with some aluminum foil. He says that this traps the air and gives you that reverberation effect youre looking for. Now, you take a shinny penny, not a corroded one you want a shiny one because it will less resistance. You stick the shinny penny in the center of the plate. Like that, and you take your mini jack and he says you tape them to the penny onto the foil. And there you have your high def speaker, well apparently, but I’m not gonna stop for one.  I’m gonna make a 13 point surround sound system. If these work, its gonna be insane. Oh yeah, 13 paper plate speaker surround sound system. Clearly Torys a big ideas man. You know if these work, I might be able to retire early.

But even before he busts his move, Torys already busted the cost of this move. Now claim is these speakers cost less than a dollar to make. Now I call it an Internet bull crap because these mini-jacks cost 10 dollars each, so right there youve already blown your budget so hes lying abut that, might be feeling on whether its working, probably not going to be true on that part either. So is there much truth to this tin foil tale, well Torys picked up funky little number to put it to the test. The CD players connected to the other mini-jack rabbits. All Tory needs now is a Guinea pig or should that be Rock-pig. What’s supposed to happen here?  Youre about to get your mind fill of amazing quality sound from tin-foil covered plates.

Now, play that funky music, right guy? Are you ready?  In three, two, one, Yeahaaaa.  I dont understand. I don’t hear anything Whats suppose to be happened? Supposed to be amazing music coming out of my speakers. Son of  Its hundred fifty dollar down to coop But Karrys has a rocking idea, maybe there is not enough power to drive all thirteen speakers at once. Maybe all these speakers in parallel lowering your impedance, may be that’s problem.  Oh, I didnt think of that. Maybe I just try to hook it one.  Tory connects the CD player to one speaker, just like HouseholdHacker did, and maybe like he should have in the first place.  All right so this is one aluminum foil speaker test, here you go, are you ready? Its the golden sound of silence again! You hear that? Thats sound of money being thrown away! All right, this isnt working. No.

Sounds like paper plate speaker for less than a dollar really is just too good to be true. Sorry about that! .. yes, youre this myth is busted along with Torys speakers.
