1. pay someone under the table
Today's Expression regarding to 'Table'
Listen and watch the video carefully and fill the definition of following expressions by yourself.
Honey, how should I pay Jennifer for babysitting? Just pay in cash under the table. It's such small money, don't worry about illegal crap, it's acceptable custom.
2. lay (put) your cards on the table
Being honest is the best strategy when you deal with people at work place, so lay all your cards on the table up-front. It will set you free and bring more eggs on the table.
3. bring something to the table
Don't exaggerate what you can do in your position, but make sure to clearly lay all your cards on the table as well as what you can bring to the table. Of course, it is good idea to let them know that you're a quick learner for new tasks.
비슷한 상황에서 쓰일수 있는 표현으로 'what's in it for me'가 있습니다. 면접을 보는 자리에서 자신의 가치를 설명한 후, Ok, then, please tell me what's in it for me? 라는 질문을 할수 있습니다. 즉, '(여기서 일을 하면) 내가 가지게될 것 (연봉, 보너스, 복지혜택 등등)'이 무었인지에 대한 질문입니다. 근데 formal한 인터뷰자리에서 사용하기보다는 채용이 결정되고 연봉협상을 본격적으로 벌이는 와중에 사용하는 것이 좋겠습니다. 왜냐하면 informal 표현이기 때문입니다.
